Play testing Flash game

This is the my mini Flash, Big Red Gliding Woodlouse,in this task we had to ask some individuals in the class to play test our Flash Games, In my game, your task is to find the Orchid Mantis and rescue the Queens eggs. Its a simple game and twice in the game you have to make a choice and hope that it is the right choice, if not, you go back to the start. The People who play tested my game were, Tristan, Joe, Luke and Mike. They were all impressed with my game and i am happy with the comments. They said they found it amusing which i am happy with because that is what is was aiming for. The things i could of improved on is: i could of made it longer, i could of added more scenes where you have you make a decision and try to make the right decision and i could of used more sound. Overall i am proud of my game, i think it is a good start. Instead of using just still images i wanted to make moving animations and i think i achieved that very well.

Iris.

Iris is a personal assistant application for Android. The application uses natural language processing to answer questions based on user voice request. Iris currently supports Call, Text, Contact Lookup, and Web Search actions including playing videos, looking for: lyrics, movie reviews, recipes, news, weather, places and others. It was developed in 8 hours by Narayan Babu and his team at Dexetra Software Solutions Private Limited, aBangalore (India)-based firm. The name is Siri backwards, Siri being the original application for the same use owned by Apple Inc., and stands for "Intelligent Rival Imitator of Siri".

SpyCraft - The great game

Spycraft (also known by its full title, Spycraft: The Great Game) is an adventure CD-ROM game published by Activision in 1996. It details the attempted assassination of the President of the United States and the CIAand SVR attempts to save him. Although the game was not approved by either organization, it tends to favour realism due to its coordination with former CIA director William Colby and former KGB Major-General Oleg Kalugin.

Ray

Ray is a game where you can choose what happens throughout by clicking on different choices. There are 3 parts to this games, such as Ray, Ray part 2 and Ray part 3. They are all individual games.It is quite similar to what us as a group is doing on Flash. This game is for some reason in the style of South Park but i think it looks effective. 

The Secret of Monkey Island

The Secret of Monkey Island is a 2D adventure game played from a third-person perspective. Via a point-and-click interface, the player guides protagonist Guybrush Threepwood through the game's world and interacts with the environment by selecting from twelve verb commands (nine in newer versions) such as "talk to" for communicating with characters and "pick up" for collecting items between commands and the world's objects in order to successfully solve puzzles and thus progress in the game. While conversing with other characters, the player may choose between topics for discussion that are listed in a dialog tree; the game is one of the first to incorporate such a system. The in-game action is frequently interrupted by cutscenes, non-interactive animated sequences that are used to provide information about character personalities and advance the plot. Like other LucasArts adventure games, The Secret of Monkey Island features a design philosophy that makes the player character's death nearly impossible (Guybrush does drown if he stays underwater for more than ten minutes).

Grim Fandango

 

 Grim Fandango is an adventure game, in which the player controls Manuel "Manny" Calavera ('calavera' being Spanish for 'skull') as he follows Mercedes "Meche" Colomar in the Underworld. The game uses the GrimE engine, pre-rendering static backgrounds from 3D models, while the main objects and characters are animated in 3D. The player controls Manny's movements and actions with a keyboard, a joystick, or agamepad. Manny must collect objects that can be used with either other collectible objects, parts of the scenery, or with other people in the Land of the Dead in order to solve puzzles and progress in the game. The game lacks any type of HUD. Unlike the earlier 2D LucasArts games, the player is informed of objects or persons of interest not by text floating on the screen when the player passes a cursor over them, but instead by the fact that Manny will turn his head towards that object or person as he walks by. The player reviews the inventory of items that Manny has collected by watching him pull each item in and out of his coat jacket. Manny can engage in dialogue with other characters through conversation trees to gain hints of what needs to be done to solve the puzzles or to progress the plot.As in most LucasArts adventure games, the player can never die or otherwise get into a no-win situation (that prevents completion of the game).

It is similar to Monkey Island because you can choose what happens throughout the game, what ever you choose can change the story.

Story Arc

Start:

1. Lorry's tire poped causeing the lorry to tip over.

2. Plane crashes into a bridge causing loads of cars getting destroyed and people getting killed.

3. Doovann's parents are killed by a huge piece of bridge, (Doovann is a baby at this point)

4. Kerbeanium (leader of the English mafia) rescues Doovan and builds him a bionic arm because the attack damaged his arm.

13 years later...

Middle:

5. Doovann just finished school and we walks home with his friend but his friend gets shot in the head by a sniper. Doovann then promises his friend that he will be avenged.

6. Doovann finds a red ruby that glowed when he held it.

20 years later...

End:

7. Kerbeanium buys Doovann a brand new Ferrari.

8. A car drives past slowly and a man with an eye patch gets out shoots Kerbeanium and takes the ruby, (this is the same person who killed Doovann's friend).

9. Doovann gets into his car and then a massive chase takes place.

10. The chase stops by both cars crashing into each other.

11. The man takes off his eye patch and inserts the emerald where his eye used to be and then shoots a laser from the emerald which can cut through almost anything.

12. Doovann then reaches out his bionic arm and the laser deflect off of it and back into the emerald, this caused the man to disintegrate.

13. Doovann the becomes the leader of the English mafia.

Chapter 1

It was 4:15pm rush hour on Friday the 22th August 2011. BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!  This was all you could hear in the city of London, the traffic was absolutely terrible. The cause of this was a Lorry filled with propane gas tanks. The tires on the left hand side of the lorry burst whilst driving just 35 miles an hours. The lorry driver lost control and the lorry skidded to the right then to the right causing the lorry to tip over. This blocked the road completely. The people in the traffic were not aware that lorry totalled lorry was full of propane gas tanks. The lorry driver was trapped the in lorry so we wasn’t able to get out and warn the people. One hour later the traffic got much, much worse, the traffic went on for miles and miles and the only positive thing was that the lorry didn’t explode. The AA was called but because it was rush hour and traffic was going on for miles they had to come up with a solution, and fast. 12 minutes later over the radio it was announced that the AA was going to travel by helicopter with a crane to lift the totalled lorry and should take no longer 20mins. Everyone was happy that finally something was going to be done. 19 minutes there was a rumble in the sky, it sounded like thunder but it wasn’t because the noise was constant and it was getting louder and louder with each passing second. Then there was flashing lights in the sky which was also getting bigger and bigger with each passing second. The helicopter arrived and everyone was cheering and they were all amazed how loud the helicopter was. But it wasn’t the helicopter, the noise was still getting louder and louder and the flashing light was still getting bigger and bigger. 13 seconds after the arrival of the helicopter a bridge (which was just 20 feet away from the helicopter) suddenly just exploded. Seconds after the explosion, the back half of an airplane was spinning at which looked like the speed of sound took the helicopter right out of the sky like a rugby tackle. They both crashed into the ground destroying about 25 cars in the traffic. Parts of the bridge were also smashing into the traffic like meteors. In the space of just 20 minutes it was just the sound of car horns and now explosions and crashing noises, glass smashing and people screaming, all with in the space of 20 minutes. It was a horrifying disaster.

People were trying to reverse away from the collapsing bridge but some people were reversing quicker than others, this was causing aloud of pile ups. Some people that were much closer to the collapsing bridge got out of their cars and were running for their lives. 10 minutes after the disaster there was just: most of the bridge all over the road and smashed through cars, cars on fire, cars abandoned and abandoned but not smashed up and pile up of cars and bridge parts. And there was also to half’s of a plane smashed up, and a helicopter underneath the back half of the plane. There scenery was absolutely breath taking, it was devastating. It was the most random and the most unexpected thing to happen, but to some this disaster was expected.

 

Chapter 2

15 minutes after the disaster there was a loud noise coming from the distance thankfully it wasn’t anything bad, in fact it was an amazing sound. It was the sound of a tuned up 6.3 litre, 600 horse power v8 engine from a matte purple Mercedes AMG C63 coupe.

 

It was the leader of the English mafia Kerbeanium Shahamalam. He was aware about this happening. The disaster looked like an accidental place crash but it was actually a terrorist attack. Whilst the plane was travelling to London airport a bomb was let at the front of the plane killing both the captain of the plain and also the co-pilot. The plane was traveling at 510 miles per hour before the explosion but the explosion caused the plane to accelerate even more as it was falling from the sky. The plane was travelling at nearly 600 miles an hour when it hit the bridge. When they saw pile ups of cars, they knew it was too late. He drove past all the pile ups to see if there were any survivors, after half a mile there were no sign of life left, the cars were either empty or filled with bodies. As Kerbeanium was about to turn around assuming there were no survivors at all he heard crying. He instantly got out of the car and went to follow where the noise was coming from. The noise came from the back of a Toyota Yaris. The front half of the car was smashed, a huge piece of the collapsed bridge smashed through the front of car. Kerbeanium got there and saw that is was a baby that amazingly survived the attack; unfortunately the baby’s parents were dead. They were crushed but the bridge piece. The baby was injured, the huge piece of bridge gone through the front of the can and crushed the baby’s arm. Kerbeanium was amazed that the baby was still alive and he knew that the bridge part that had the baby trapped would be impossible to move by hand. He then got out his revolver and shot at the bridge piece which thankfully made the bridge piece disintegrate. The baby was free but really badly injured and needed medical attention immediately so he picked up the baby and ran as fast as he could to the car. Thankfully the hospital was just 10 minutes away from him so he went full throttle so we could get there quicker. 7mins later He arrived at the hospital, the baby was taken straight to the emergency room. The nurses did all they could, they stopped the bleeding but the nerves in the baby’s arm were completely shattered which means the baby’s right arm was useless. Kerbeanium wasn’t happy about this and luckily he is a man with such intelligence.

He took the baby home and in is home is a massive room which looks like a laboratory. And in that room was lots of equipment such as space age ray guns that when someone gets shot by it they turn into dust laser swords that can cut through anything and deflect bullets, suits that when worn can make to turn invisible and lots of cameras. Being the leader of the English mafia he is the only one who has the intelligence to create all of this stuff and all of this in an advantage when it comes to finding people or killing people. He put the baby to sleep and started to operate.  1 hour and a half later the operation is finally done and complete success. Kerbeanium created a bionic arm which is made from a special metal material which cannot bend or get dented, as the baby grows the arm with growth as well; it is like and human arm. The arm can also stretch and the hand can rotate constantly but all of this will only be possible when the baby grows to an appropriate age. The arm also has a really nice chrome colour as well but that is the natural colour of the metal. The person who created this metal is the same person who creates revolver pistols such as the one that Kerbeanium has. The person’s name was Doovann tealeaf; this gave Kerbeanium an idea for a name. He said “I will call you Doovann Shahamalam, I will raise you like my own and you will be the most powerful agent the nation has ever seen”.

Chapter 3

13 years later…

Doovann spent his child hood training to be strong person, obviously he was too young to be an agent but Kerbeanium stayed true to his word about looking after Doovann, there was no problems at home, in fact he wish he could stay home all the time because he wasn’t very social able at school. No one really liked him because of his arm, kids would bully him for it and they also make fun of him for not having a mother and father. At this point in life is new about what really happened when he was a baby and was really happy that Kerbeanium saved him and raised him but he wished he at least had some who was like his mother. Kerbeanium never was able to get a girlfriend, in fact he has been lonely all his life, but he doesn’t care because he says he is married to his work. Doovann also had that problem at school, due to the fact that Doovann wasn’t exactly attractive; he had quite a big chin and a big noise and his forehead stuck out. But in a way he liked is forehead because it kept the sun away from his eyes. Doovann only had one friend at school, Derpervan Sougan. They were friends since they were very young, his father was one of the agents of the English mafia so his dad and Kerbeanium worked together so Doovann and Derpervan spent a lot of time together when there were young.  Because they were friends when they were both you they grew to like the same things so which meant that they got on very well, they were like brothers. It felt like those days would last for ever, but that all changed.

 

 

It was 3:05pm on the 12 of March 2025 and Doovann and Derpervan was walking home from school and there was a gun shot. The gun shot frightened everybody and everyone started running, one elderly woman tripped over whilst trying to run away and Derpervan thoughtfully went over to help the old woman up the gun shot happened again. As Doovann turned around he saw his friend on the floor bleeding, he ran over to him and he saw that Derpervan was right through the neck, but by the time he got him Derpervan was already dead.  He grabbed his friends has and he said “I will find the person who did this, no matter how long it takes and no matter what ever it take”. “I will find this person and I will kill them personally”. As he started crying he saw that the old woman was shot as well, then he saw the old woman’s purse was open and something shiny was inside it. As he looked inside he saw that is was a red ruby diamond, straight away it was obvious. Whoever it was who shot Derpervan was aiming for the old woman in the first place because the person wanted the ruby, but Derpervan got in the way. Doovann picked up the ruby and ran home hoping he wouldn’t get shot also. Later that day he showed the ruby to Kerbeanium, he knew what is was where it came from and how much it’s worth. It was actually once owned by Adolf Hitler himself, he used to take the ruby with him whenever he was giving a speech. But no one new expect Kerbeanium’s grandfather who took it from Hitler himself, of course most people know about the existence of it know and it is worth up 100.000 Billion pounds, possibly more than that. Kerbeanium was amazed the he was holding possible the most valuable thing in existence and it was thanks to his own grandfather that it is worth so much.

Chapter 4

20 years later…

Doovann was now 33 years old and he was a strong, well hard working agent for the English mafia. Kerbeanium really did keep his promise, he was so proud of Doovann, he bought him a brand new bright red, 562 horse power Ferrari 458 Spider.

 

Doovann was so happy; it had always been his dream to own a Ferrari, now he was holding the keys to his own Ferrari. Kerbeanium reached into his pocket and pulled out the ruby diamond that Doovann found 20 years ago when he lost his best friend. He said “Doovann, I want you to have this, it so one of the most valuable thing in the world and I trust you will not put it in the wrong hands”.  As Kerbeanium was about you hand him the ruby, a man with an eye patch slowly drove past in a grey Mercedes SLS and took the ruby from his hand and shot him in the head.  Knowing that Kerbeanium was already dead he got straight in to his new Ferrari and went after the man with the eye patch.

 

Through his years and years of training Kerbeanium new that one day a car chase will happen so he knew it was vital that he taught Doovann to be a good driver and Doovann’s training certainly served him well. He was an amazing driving, he could easily power slide a car and he could also drift very well, plus the Ferrari with its very light handling was very easy. But even though he was a good driver, the man who he was chasing was also a good driver so it was even. As the chase continued, Doovann had a thought, someone wanted the ruby before and shot his best friend, and then it was obvious. The person who took the ruby and killed Kerbeanium was the same person who killed his best friend, Doovann started to rage with anger. He hit the dashboard with anger and then the glove box opened and inside was ammunition and a note, it said: “This is for you are in desperate need, from your father Kerbeanium”. This certainly was a desperate time because he didn’t have any ammunition. He reloaded his gun and slowed down so he could put the roof down. 17 seconds later he went full throttle and took a shortcut, he went through an ally way. As he came out of the ally way he drifted into the centre of the road and him coming past, he was going faster. He was going to crash his car into Doovann’s car.

 Doovann dived out the car and rolled onto the curb. He left his gun in the car by mistake. As the man with the eye patch crashed into his car Doovann knew he would need a miracle to get out of this one alive. The man with eye patch’s car had explosive bolts on the door in case of a crash. This was because his car a gull wing doors. He took his eye patch off and inserted the ruby into where his eye used to be. He started to glow red and then a laser shot right from it, cutting through a building very easily.  He look at his right arm and realised the miracle was there. As the laser slowly descending on to Doovann, he raised his bionic hand and extended it making the laser hit his arm. The laser deflected back at the ruby cause in the man’s body to disintegrate. Doovann walked over and picked up the ruby and was amazed that it wasn’t at all damaged. He was happy that the murderer got what he deserved but it was really upset and angry because of murderer took away the two most important people in his life. He looked up to the sky and was and two shooting stars shot past. He believed that it was His best friend Derpervan and Kerbeanium’s spirit star. Doovann smiled as a tear ran down his face. He knew that they’re souls still live on and that they will always be in his heart.

Chapter 5

Later that day…

A massive funeral was happening outside the English mafia building, all of the agents were there as well Doovann. Because this was 2045 there was no room for any more burials so carved out a hole in floor of his office on the top floor. As the coffin was in place, the put a very thick piece of glass over the top of the coffin so people could see the coffin and remember that such an amazing human being in under there.

Doovann was granted the job as the new leader of the English mafia and he spent the rest of his days doing what Kerbeanium did, because he was raised by him so he was just like him so no one could ever forget Kerbeanium. And every day Doovann would go in his office he would always look at the floor before he would sit down to work. And also like Kerbeanium, he could never find love, but again like Kerbeanium, he didn’t mind cause he was married to his work.

Doovan Shahamalam (first story idea)

 Doovann Shahamalam

Doovann Shahamalam is a 32-year-old man who lives in a London on the top of a ­­­­­­ newsagent. He has short spiky black hear, a long but thing moustache and he always wears his shaded glasses, even if it’s dark outside. The reason is lives on top of a newsagent are because it is the least likely place to find a fully trained agent who works for the English mafia. Yes, he is an agent, a powerful, strong agent. Doovann was raised by the Leader of the English mafia Sir Kerbeanium Shahamalam. Doovann parents were killed in a car crash caused by a collapsed bridge. They crashed into the back of an already crashed car; they would have lived if they were wearing seatbelts. After this catastrophe, the English mafia were trying to drive past but Kerbeanium heard the sound of a baby crying. As he approached the wrecked car he found the baby luckily uninjured in the backseat of the car, he saw that the parents were dead he took the baby with him. As Kerbeanium was driving along he looked at the name carved into his gun, Doovann, which was the name of the person who manufactured his gun, this was Kerbeanium’s most prized possession, and he had that gun ever since he joined the mafia. That’s when he decided the name for the baby. Doovann Shahamalam. All through his life, Doovann was trained to be the most powerful agent the nation has ever seen. He learned to speak many languages such as: Russian, German, Polish, Welsh and Italian. He exercised almost every day and he has a healthy diet. He loves what he does for a job but he wishes he could have a long break every so often but he is also willing to work. One this he is always doing is to track down and kill one person, he has no idea who he is, what his name is or what he does for a career but all he knows it that he much be killed no matter what it takes. When he was young his best friend Derpervan Sougan was shot in the head by a sniper, it was a random assassination, which he didn’t deserve. Ever since that happened, he swore to himself that he will find the person who did this and personally kill him. Although he is a powerful agent he does have his weaknesses. Such as: he is terrible at maths, he is terrified of the dark, he doesn’t know how an oven works and sometimes he forgets the simplest tasks. But besides that he is a very good driver, he can tell just by facial expressions is someone is guilty or not, he can climb building, run extremely fast and he is very good at going under cover. The one thing he cherishes more than anything is his gun, which is the same type of gun that he was named after. It was given to him By His carer Kerbeanium; just like Kerbeanium he has had the gun ever since he became an agent. He also polishes his gun every day after a hard day at work, he really enjoys it, cleaning his gun is one of his hobbies and there isn’t many he has mainly because he is always so busy he has never got time to do anything. Doovann is a strong, confident killing machine but inside he is a very soft and kind hearted person, his other goal in life is to find someone to love and to love him back, someone to settle down with and care for, but because of his life style he finds it hard to find love. But he is confident that he will find someone.     

Dream game design

When i was much younger i had a very unusual dream about a failed alien abduction. These aliens were going to invade another planet but while as they were travelling through space all of there ships failed and everything stopped functioning. As they were going at unbelievable speed they came crashing into earth causing a massive explosion the size of Europe. But this wasn't the biggest problem. some of the aliens survived the crashed but they couldn't breath due to oxygen and they slowly started dieing. After all the aliens died their corpses gave off a very strange disease that instantly spread across the world and covered the atmosphere. This is where it got bad, after the disease covered earth it generated a black hole on earth which sucked in the sun. The suns heat instantly killed all of like in earth turning earth into a moon like planet.

I realised that this would be hard to do as a game idea because everything that happened in the dream happened to fast. So i thought of the idea of a game idea were it takes place after what happened. As everything in existence was destroyed: lifeforms, buildings and every and the sea water evaporating because of such heat from the sun. One character lives through out the disaster, an alien that didn't die during the crash and hid in an underground bunker that is miles and miles underground and comes back to what is nothing lift of earth. I also thought for a game idea, i the alien survivor has to travel across the lifeless world and try to find things to build a ship so that the alien can get back to its own planet. through out the game you will have to climb mountains, go underground and prevent falling lava. Also, when night time comes, you will have to fight off mutated creatures which are humans mutated from the dead aliens disease. They only come alive at night when the air is at it's thing est and less dusty.

This is a map which i made for game design, i thought this could be usefull for this game design.
